Lesson 21 - I am determined to see things differently.

Lesson 21 in A Course in Miracles brings us closer to recognising the power of our thoughts, especially when they fuel anger. By being determined to see things differently, we shift from judgement to understanding, recognising that no form of anger is justified over another. The lesson asks us to search our minds and acknowledge these thoughts, understanding that seeing through love and clarity begins by undoing the layers of frustration and projection. We are gently guided to realise that even the smallest annoyance is part of the same illusion of separation. The focus is on practicing specific mind exercises, applying the idea to both people and situations, leading us towards a new way of seeing, one that brings peace.

In my life, this lesson resonates deeply. Often, I find myself reacting to seemingly minor irritations, whether with family or the day-to-day situations that provoke anger. Recognising that even a fleeting annoyance stems from deeper frustrations, I've come to see how important it is to be aware of this. It’s a process of rewiring how I perceive challenges, understanding they are simply the mind's way of hiding guilt.

Being determined to see things differently is, for me, about shifting from a reactive state to a place of understanding and compassion. It's not just about letting go of anger, but about choosing to see the world in a way that aligns with peace. Each practice period offers a chance to focus on where I tend to feel triggered and, through that awareness, gently change the way I perceive those situations. This way, I can see with a clearer mind, unclouded by old habits of anger or judgement. It’s a powerful lesson that encourages me to think, reflect, and actively choose to change my perception of the world around me.

Whenever you feel anger, take a moment to reflect and say, “I am determined to see this situation or person differently.” It’s a small, consistent step towards reshaping how you respond to life’s challenges.
